Growing up in a large family, I learned to eat meals quickly—if I didn’t, I never got seconds! But when you consume food too quickly, it’s almost impossible to tell when you’re full, which means you’re likely to end up eating more without noticing or even enjoying it. Studies show that fast eaters consume more than 3 ounces of food per minute than slower eaters. Learn to take your time by chewing each mouthful completely before swallowing and putting down your fork between bites. Focus on how each forkful or handful of food tastes before reaching for more.
